ABOUT DANA
Dana Mooney is a Vancouver-based artist whose practice is rooted in an ongoing exploration of self-expression through painting. A deeply creative soul, she has always been drawn to making, exploring, and finding meaning through visual language. Painting has become both an anchor and an outlet; a place where she can slow down, reflect, and step outside the noise of everyday life.
Working across both fine art and larger-scale pieces, Dana’s work is guided by an intuitive approach to colour, composition, and movement. Her paintings often draw subtle influence from the West Coast landscape, while remaining grounded in emotion and abstraction. Each piece becomes an exploration of mood and memory, where layered colours and forms invite a sense of calm and openness, married with joyful outbursts.
For Dana, the act of painting is as important as the finished work. It offers a moment of pause, an escape, and a way to reconnect. This intention carries through to her audience. She hopes her work creates space for others to step away from their routines, even briefly - to breathe, to feel, and to find stillness within themselves.
At its core, her practice is about connection: to place, to self, and to the shared human need for moments of rest and reflection.
You can connect with Dana at her studio in Railtown Vancouver by contacting her here to arrange an appointment. If you are outside of Vancouver, virtual meetings are always welcome.
