I did it! I finally got a studio sidekick - meet Cocanut! 6 years ago when I started painting full time, I painted A LOT of custom pet portraits while I got my business up and running, but also to fill the void of not having a puppy of my own! She’ll be with me at the studio if you come for a visit so come say hay!
I’m so freaking excited to have my artwork featured in Design Milk! Interior designer Michelle Dirkse has showcased her new Fabric and Wallpaper Textiles line in this Seattle Condo project, and I’m so happy to have my artwork shown on the fabulous pink chaise and pillows. Take a read to fully tour the space, this line is now available to order for your own projects!
I recently attended my first “Altitude Summit” - a 6 day creative entrepreneur summit in Palm Springs. This has been on my bucket list for years and was able to attend at the perfect time in my art career. I went to so many great classes and workshops, connected with just amazing people and am so excited to take these new ideas to the next level. So watch how it all unfolds as I push myself into new markets and hone in on what I’ve already established for my brand. Big things are coming down the pipeline, and I owe so much of this momentum to my art supporters and clients - couldn’t do it without you!
I am so happy to release my latest Round Series, “Colour Palettes.” This vision has been swirling in my head for a while now, and each piece is so unique. These fun pops of modern colour palettes are full of texture, depth, painterly brushstrokes and energy. Perfect for that space that needs a burst of expression, I hope you love them!
I met Monika Hibbs a couple of years ago when she came to my Neon Art Show with Endeavour Neon. She was so positive and personable to chat with, and when she mentioned to me that she wanted a painting for her new home that she was building I didn’t think she was actually serious! But fast forward to last year, when she reached out again and asked me to paint a custom Hydrangeas piece for her, I was so excited! For one, it’s not every day that artists get to create their pieces as the focal point of a gorgeously designed room (this piece was the pop of colour in her almost all white dining room), but to have creative freedom as well and totally connect with what the client is looking for is a dream job. It’s one of my favourite pieces from 2018, and recently featured in Style at Home Magazine’s Jan/Feb 2019 issue. Monika worked with Stephanie Jean Design to create her stunning home, and I’m so honoured to be a part of it.
2019 is all about expansion for me. And one of the ways I’m trying to expand is by having more of my artwork available and easily accessible to everyone. Last year you may remember my collaboration with Jergens Bodylotion - where my artwork was printed on their limited edition bottles and sold Canada wide. This project was really exciting to me as an artist because I knew that my artwork was obtainable and visible to anyone with any budget! This year, I’m starting off with a new collection of archival art prints, which I’ve made available in 3 sizes. So if an original painting isn’t in the budget for you at this time, my prints might just be the right solution! Jump over to my Prints shop page to see the selection I’ve released, I really do think there’s something for everyone!
During the month of November I had the opportunity to paint 3 murals - but of course in the style that my life seems to always go, they had to happen all at once! First up were two murals (two walls) with Saje Natural Wellness. I worked closely with their store designer Chandra Borek on the concept and design to create a beautiful flow of botanicals that reflected their brand and also showcased my artistic style. Finished with copper leaf accents, these murals are now a public piece of artwork on display permanently at their new store in Sevenoaks Mall, Abbotsford BC.
The second mural I created was in a private residence, in Kitsilano Vancouver. Inspired by the mural I had painted a couple of years ago at Olive and Ruby Cafe, this client wanted me to create something in a similar abstract landscape style for their master bedroom wall. At 12’ high, and a blank canvas as the home was still in construction, I was given total creative freedom and had so much fun pushing my boundaries.
The third mural was for a small enclosed private office space, that felt too stark and sterile for the owner. He asked me to put some colour in there, to make his clients feel more comfortable and liven up the room, so I created a wrap around band of colour in my signature westcoast mountain landscape style with natural blues, greens and greys. I chose this minimal approach to keep the room feeling calm overall and not overpowering. Another challenge accepted! I’m looking forward to the next mural opportunity that comes my way and feel that with each one I grow stronger and more confident as an artist. For mural quotes, just send me a message with your thoughts and dimensions!
I’m so excited to be exhibiting again at IDS Vancouver! You can come see all of my latest works, textiles, and furniture in person Sept. 20-23 at the Vancouver Convention Center. Find me in booth 1303, just outside “The District.”
At the show this year, I’m launching my new hand painted fabric line, my upholstered furniture line - “Home” by Dana, and the textiles line which I collaborated on with designer Michelle Dirkse. Aaaaand, I’ll have a selection of new pieces from my 2 new collections launching Sept. 27 at CF Interiors!
This show means so much to me, it was my first jump into my painting career and I have built such an inspiring, supportive and collaborative design community from it, so I’m ecstatic to be back in action again. See you at the show!
I had the opportunity this year to create artwork for workout wear! TRUE Activewear is run by two Canadian women, who's goal with their products is to inspire confidence in women of all fitness levels. They are passionate about creating quality pieces that are fun and functional and ultimately inspiring women to be their absolute best, so I couldn't resist teaming up with them on this limited edition legging design!
Incorporating a fun fresh look into an active lifestyle was top of mind when I painted this leafy energetic and colourful pattern. They won't last long so jump on over to TRUE Activewear's site to shop online, or you can grab them at La Maison Simons, Nordstrom Vancouver and select retail boutiques.
Want to preshop the Pricing Sheet? Send me an email and I'll send you the info! Hope to see you this weekend, where all of my in studio art will be marked down for 2 days only.
